I am happy with Osthi: STR

Simbhu is hapy with Osthi, a remake of Hindi hit Dabanng. Says the actor on choosing to do a remake, ' this does not mean there is a lack of new ideas. Good cinema should reach a wider audience. Dabanng was a blockbuster and it is a good movie, there's no harm in sharing the same story with a different section of the audience'.

Heaping laurels on his director Dharani, he adds, 'he got the best out of everyone in the cast and crew. I thoroughly enjoyed all my 87-days of shooting for the movie in Mysore.'

STR adds that it was music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja who urged him to work with Thaman for Osthi.

OSTHI MUSIC REVIEW

Starring: Silambarasan, Jithan Ramesh, Richa Gangopadhyay, Sonu Sood, Revathi, Mallika Sherawat
Direction: S. Dharani
Music: Thaman. S
Production: Mohan Apparao T. Ramesh
Vocals: Baba Sehgal, Ranjith, Rahul Nambiar, Naveen Madhav, Thaman. S, Rita, Mahathi, Silambarasan, LR. Easwari, Vijaya T. Rajendar, Solar Sai
Lyrics: Vaali, Yugabharathi, Silambarasan

Osthi is the remake of the 2010 Salman Khan starrer blockbuster Dabangg. The film is directed by S. Dharani. The music is scored by Thaman, who is the man of the moment running high after the success of Dookudu audio in Telugu. With Sony Music bagging the audio rights for the film, the bar is set high for this full-fledged commercial entertainer. All Simbu's projects have been high on musical expectations because of his good rapport with the music directors. Lets see if the STR-Thaman combination rocks!

Osthi Maamey...
Singers: Baba Sehgal, Ranjith, Rahul Nambiar, Naveen Madhav
Lyrics:
Vaali

Baba Sehgal's pompous and unique style of singing drives the opener, 'Osthi Maamey' in a loud, ballistic manner to introduce the cop in action. The full-spirited singer makes his trademark presence after 'Kaadhal Vanthalae' in 'Singham' which incidentally happens to be another cop flick. Thaman shows off his versatility with varying instrumental beats and typical Petta Rap mixes that adds to the listening charm. The music is fully loaded with aggressively punched one-liners from Vaali.

Unnale Unnale...
Singers: Thaman. S, Rita
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Peppy Punjabi beats with ethnic beats brings out the freshness of the next track, 'Unnale Unnale'. Thaman sings his heart out in lovable tender tones in this "girl wooing" number which has a likable fusion composition. The well-nurtured and rendered middle interludes from Rita are mixed well in proportion. It entertains with impressive sounding vocals and pleasant mixing arrangements of Bangra patterns, despite its heard-before syndrome.

Pondatti...
Singers: Silambarasan
Lyrics: Silambarasan

It is a known norm that Silambarasan does the crooning and penning of at least one song in almost all of his musical endeavors. This album is no exception to it. 'Pondatti' song by Silambarasan is funky in spirit and snazzy in rendition. Thaman's mixing of various moods and tempo adds to the infectious nature of the song. This sultry track with its frivolously silly lyrics in the same genre of 'loosu penne', 'Aracha maava' songs, promises to be another big hit to its targeted audience. Great ring tone for the Romeos of this season!

Neduvaali...

Singers: Rahul Nambiar, Mahathi
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Rahul Nambiar who received his FilmFare nomination for ‘Adada Mazhaida’ (Paiyaa) has done the enthused singing for the track 'Neduvaali'. Mahathi joins him to add feminine shades to the feisty number. The chorus 'Doomeelu than' is racy and is mixed hot-headedly for a foot tapping number. Thaman has cleverly given an upbeat musical packaging much to the delight of the audience.

Kalasala Kalasala...

Singers: LR. Easwari, Vijaya T. Rajendar, Solar Sai
Lyrics: Vaali

'Kalasala' is the much anticipated southern version of the chartbusting 'Munni badnaam hui' song from 'Dabanng'. The ace legendry singer LR. Ezswari who sang a one-liner in the Vikram starrer Arul, starts her reign of supremacy by rendering the item number in style along with Vijaya T. Rajendar. Fuelled with high beat and banging kuthu energy, Thaman has successfully managed to create a typical dancing feasting number. With the show stopper Mallika Sherawat on-board, it should only adds to the grandiose of the commercially promising dance number.

'Osthi' lives up to its huge expectations with generous mass entertainers like 'Kalasala Kalasala', 'Pondatti' and 'Neduvaali'. Thaman has made use of this opportunity to compose a commercially viable album that might not promise of a heart-warming melody or meaningfully penned song to cherish, yet will be one of the top musical grosser which will allure listeners with its hits

Osthi is mass plus class

Thaman who has composed the music for Osthi is full of enthusiasm about it. He says that the album combines mass and class perfectly. There are five tracks in the album rendered by Baba Sehgal, Ranjith, Rahul, Naveen, Madhav, Rita, Mahathi, T Rajendar and Thaman himself. Of course, STR has also sung for Osthi.

Kalasala sung by Easwari is his favorite, Thaman admitted and he keeps listening to it all the time as it is totally addictive. The audio will be released worldwide on October 19th. Thaman has promised the fans that it is going to rock!

Osthi soundtracks

Silambarasan’s film always has some peppy songs that turn out to be a chartbuster. His penchant and eye for detail in music is the major reason for the songs to become a huge hit among the masses. Therefore, the expectations for Osthi’s music is also soaring high.

Here is the track list of the Osthi for all you music buffs out there:

Kalasalla... is by T Rajendar, LR Easwari and Sola Sai. Lyrics are by Vaali. It is said that

STR does it for thala in 'Osthi'

Well if your wondering what we are referring to, Simbu, a die-hard fan of Ajith has a tribute to his thala's 'Mankatha' in his forthcoming Diwali release 'Osthi'!

Ajith's well-received dialogue in 'Mankatha', 'Naanum Evalavu Naalthaan Nallavanavae Nadikirathu...' set a rage among the young and now Simbu will be using this one-liner in his 'Osthi' towards the end of the film.

'Mankatha' had a tribute to Simbu's 'Vaanam' dialogue, 'Enna Vazhka Da Idhu...', looks like the thala fan has something in store for his matinee idol now.

'Osthi' starring Silambarasan aka Simbu, Richa Gangopadhyay in the lead roles is a remake of B'town super hit 'Dabaang', and an item number featuring Simbu, Mallika Sherawat and Sonu Sood is one of the USPs of the film.

Shruti connects with Mallika’s item song in "OSTHI"

That Shruti Haasan is an accomplished musician and singer is well known to all. She has sung a number of songs and the latest will be for the Silambarasan starrer Osthi. Interestingly, she will render the item song for which the sexy siren Mallika Sherawat has been roped in to shake her leg.

Osthi’s music director Thaman decided that Shruti would be an excellent choice for this song and she had agreed to do it.

This item number is the most expected thing in Osthi because a similar item song turned out to be the highlight in the original version Dabangg.

STR in another remake?

Silambarasan watched Delhi Belly recently and laughed so hard his sides hurt! When the suggestion to remake the film came up, STR was very keen on doing it we hear. It is a Bollywood film that had Imran Khan in a pivotal role. What set the film apart was its liberal dose of toilet humor and its expletive - ridden narrative.

One wonders whether the Tamil film audience might be game for this coming of age film. Even so, word is that the Tamil remake of Delhi Belly will be modified and watered down in order to suit Tamil tastes. Aamir Khan, the producer of the Hindi version has let slip that some production houses are interested in buying the rights to the film so negotiations are going on currently to seal the deal.

STR watches 'Mankatha' First Day, First Show!

A self-proclaimed fan of "Thala" Ajith, Simbu was present today (August 31), to watch the first day first show of Ajith's 50th film 'Mankatha' from Chennai. Simbu, who has many times openly declared that he is an ardent fan of Thala, took an off from his shooting schedule of 'Osthi' to watch 'Mankatha' as a fan.

The shooting for 'Osthi' has been going on full swing with hero Simbu in attendance, from Mysore. But the actor has cancelled his shoot today to cheer his thala along with thousands of Ajith fans across the state.

And what an opening it has been for 'Mankatha!' Thala has hit the bull's eye with his portrayal of Vinayak Mahadevan - what a way to hit the 50th film in one's career. The film has evolved as one of the best entertainers of Ajith till date, with his fans getting a good dose of their icon, be it in dance, romance or the stunts.

'Mankatha,' despite a huge star cast has Ajith written all over it. Kudus to Venkat Prabhu for providing an all round entertainer this time with a big star on board and continuing his successful innings in the Tamil film industry!

Osthi to combine best of STR and Dharani

Dharani is one flamboyant filmmaker who leaves his imprint on every film he makes even if it is a remake. It is the director's working style to write the screenplay along the quirks and traits of the main character so that the film makes a proper impact. He used this technique in films like Dhil, Dhool, and Gilli and will be doing the same for Osthi, his remake of Dabaang with STR.

STR is a very charismatic star with a magnetic screen presence and Dharani is keen to develop the screenplay along the lines of his onscreen persona. Therefore though Osthi is a remake it has been rewritten to incorporate the best of Dharani and STR and will have the freshness of an original work in addition to fully satisfying the fans of both.

Simbhu to direct Kettavan

Simbhu, who directed Manmadhan, is all set to repeat the act. He is planning to direct Kettavan and interestingly he would direct the same.

Says Simbhu, 'I’m starting it next year, for sure. The
cast and crew are yet to be finalized but just that I want to kickstart the film.'

'It is not Manmadhan 2, but it will
fall under that style of filmmaking and will be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.'

His Vosthi, a
remake of Dabbang is likely to hit screens during Deepavali, Simbu’s other projects Podaa Podi and Vettai Mannan too are nearing completion.

Osthi to Hit the Screens by Diwali

Osthi is the film which has Simbhu in the lead role. The shooting of the film is in the final stages. Dharani who had directed hit films like Dhil,Dhool, Ghilli and Kuruvi is directing this film. This is the first time Dharani is directing Simbhu. This film is the remake of the super hit Hindi film Dabangg which had Salman Khan in the lead role. Simbhu is donning the role of a majestic police officer. Richa is pairing with Simbhu in this film. The shooting of the film which commenced few months back is coming to an end now. The shooting of the film is taking place in Hosur, Bangalore and Mysore. The film was planned to be completed in 90 days. Because of this the shooting of the film has been going on in top gear. The film is expected to be released on Diwali.
